News | 2009 Mark Hahn 300, Lake Havasu City AZ

Saturday | February 28, 2009
The 2009 Mark Hahn Memorial Race was held in Lake Havasu City, Arizona on February 28th 2009 at the Crazy Horse Campgrounds. This race is the 5th annual National Championship endurance race held every year in Lake Havasu. The weather conditions were horrendous for the racers, with 20 mph winds from the north; it was set to be a very challenging race for the Macc Racing team. The start of the 300 mile endurance race was very exciting with Warner, Farthing, and MacClugage out in front early setting a great pace. Coming onto the front section of the track on about lap 8 the ski that Chris was on lost its intake grate and threads which unfortunately would take him and his teammate Clay Cullen out of competition for the race. Rachel MacClugage and teammate Jordan Mclean were turning very good lap times on there R&D Yamaha FX SHO as they led the 4 Stroke stock class for the entire race. There great finish was a result of great riding, a very fast boat in the rough conditions, and very fast pit stops. Rachel and Jordan would go onto win the 4 Stroke Stock class in dominating fashion with about a 4 lap lead on second place, giving them the US National Title in the stock class and a 9th place finish overall out of all the racers.

Rachel and Jordan both would like to express that this win would not have been achievable with out all of the great help from the people around them most significantly, Yamaha Motor Corporation which supplied Rachel and Jordan with a new FX SHO which proved to be one of the best race boats on the water. Also Bill Chapin of R&D Performance had a lot to do with the success of the race, his many hours of testing and preparation showed as the ski he set up ran very strong for 300 miles in some of the worst conditions Lake Havasu has ever seen. Special thanks to Chris MacClugage for his countless hours preparing the ski for Rachel and Jordan weeks before the race. Some say that endurance racing is won and lost in the pits which is why the help of the Macc Racing pit crew, Jim Daugherty, Jesse Thompson, Beau Morton, Nathan Mclean, and Mack Mclean was so crucial in winning the race. Congratulations Rachel MacClugage, Jordan Mclean and the rest of the Macc Racing team for your outstanding performance.
