2011 UWP/IJSBA National Tour

Charleston, West Virginia – August 20-21, 2011

Monster Energy’s own Chris Macclugage of Macc Racing otherwise known as THE G.O.A.T. does it again… #14 & #15 as he completes TWO objectives in the 2011 Season on the UWP Tour in Charleston, West Virginia. He has two more objectives to complete “THE MISSION” he is on in 2011 which will commence at the 30th Annual IJSBA World Finals in his hometown of Lake Havasu City, Arizona on Oct 1-9th, 2011.

Here is how he completed half the mission as we lay out the details of his championship winning weekend atop his Macc Racing/ Monster Energy powered watercraft in Pro R/A Stock & Pro Ski GP!

Chris Macclugage of Macc Racing Monster Energy wasn’t even finished with Rd 7 of the UWP Tour in Anderson, SC when he began the logistical planning of getting his equipment to Charleston, WV for the final round of the 2011 UWP Tour the following weekend. He did not have much time but knew with determination it could be done. Chris had his Pops Macclugage fly in to Lake Havasu City, AZ to help him drive out to the final race to pick up the trailer and bring it back home. It was a very long 36 hour drive but it was a fun trip and time well spent with his hero. And with it being his Dad's birthday weekend made it even more special as Chris got to spend the special occasion with him. One of the ways they celebrated was a birthday breakfast at Cracker Barrel. The drive was VERY tiring on both men but they knew this was part of the mission and were determined to prevail.

Once they arrived in Charleston, WV they had to figure out a way to get the Macc Racing Trailer from Atlanta, GA to WV because they were let down once again by the individual they had hired to complete the delivery. They were able to get the trailer to the race site late Friday night at around 3:30am with the help of a few friends. Because the trailer did not arrive till then meant that they had NO testing and tuning time on Friday afternoon. Rusty Gewecke of Bullett Racing knew it was going to be a very early morning and stressful to say the least.

They were up very early Saturday morning and unloaded the trailer. Rusty started sorting the ski out and went straight into practice. With Chris entering the weekend only 26 points between him and 2nd place his nerves were somewhat in question but he works VERY well under pressure. Chris knew what needed to be done and the position he was in was nothing new to him. It was time to “get'er done!”

The track was somewhat of a one line track and poorly designed with the splits not even once again but that was something he was used to so he had a plan of his own... TO WIN and DO WHATEVER IT TAKES!

Chris decided to go with the same Macc Racing/Bullett Racing Monster Energy GP Ski and set up he used at the 2010 World Finals because he was most comfortable with that ski. And that paved the way for DOMINATION!

Dominate is exactly what he did as he went 3 for 3 hole shots and 3 for 3 wins in Pro Ski GP for the weekend and locked up the OVERALL National Championship ending a season that had NO DNF’s! The Macc Racing/Bullett Racing Monster Energy GP Ski brought home the GOLD and Chris can now buy lots of Diapers for Lil Mac!

In Pro R/A Stock Chris was a bit underpowered in Moto 1 atop his Macc Racing/Dean's Team Monster Energy Yamaha FZR. He finished 3rd. Chris was asked about what they did to make the ski a little bit faster for the next Motos and replied “we spent all day Saturday testing and tuning after our first Moto kick in the teeth. It’s very difficult in this class because there are guys with big ass tuna boats that can’t really turn so well, but the boats are fast.” There wasn’t much to be done as they really didn’t want to show what they had in store for the World Finals. It wasn’t needed on the tour. In Moto 2 it was the same result with a 3rd place finish and in the 3rd Moto he finished with a 4th place finish but was OK with this as he figured he would let someone else be in the spotlight for once in the Stock class AND he knew that’s all he needed to do was finish 4th or better to win the overall title and become the 2011 Pro R/A Stock National Champion.

With Chris winning #14 and #15 National Titles, it seemed that it was not as special as some of the others but Chris explained “I just know once I win it’s on to the next thing... and they just aren't as big of a deal like they use to be when there were full lines of riders.” With that being said there is a lot of truth behind those words and Chris hopes that in 2012 things will change and bring fuller lines to the races. But in order for that to happen on the tour and Chris to return in 2012 there needs to be some changes made.

Chris was asked if there was one moment that stuck out in his mind all year on the tour and he said “it was finishing the final standup Moto in West Virginia!”

Now it’s on to the final two objectives of Chris's mission in Lake Havasu City, AZ at the 30th Annual World Finals on Oct 1-9th to try and do the so called impossible... win the $30,000.00 cash prize in Pro Ski Open by winning all 3 Moto’s and the World Title then winning another World Title in Pro R/A Stock! Chris will be riding more and training harder as he did not ride in between rounds during the tour and for the Finals he will be doing A LOT more riding and training! Sara’s Peak…Here he comes!!!

Chris would like to think the following people who make it all happen for him and Macc Racing: Rachel Macclugage, Monster Energy, Macc Racing, Quakysense, Yamaha, Yamalube, HtMoto, Bullet Racing, Rusty Gewecke, Macc Racing/Dean's Team/Riva Racing, Alpina Watches, Oakley, Liquid Militia, Riva Racing, Yamaha, Thor, TUF Stands, Dean & Dustin Charrier for ALL of their HARD WORK this season & Brian Smith.

Congratulations Chris Maccluage on a very successful and very sportsmanlike season and good luck at the IJSBA World Finals….

IT’S TIME!!!!
