Chris MacClugage of Macc Racing finishes on the podium in the Lake Havasu Plunge-n-Run contest.
Lake Havasu City, AZ – August 28, 2010

LAKE HAVASU CITY – August 28th 2010 was really no different than any other day in the MacClugage household. Except that Chris and Rachel have taken their physical fitness and training to a new level.
At 5:30 in the morning the couple readied themselves for an inaugural event in Lake Havasu called the Plunge-n-Run, which consisted on a 1000 meter swim immediately followed by a 5 mile run.
The run was done on a winding trail unlike any other “jogger’s” trail. This run would test his endurance of uphill and downhill’s, all the while running across the rocky desert landscape of the island.
Chris was ready for the challenge and did not falter when the race commenced. He started his swim strong, only pausing for a moment to remove his swim cap which had filled with water and became cumbersome.
All the while Rachel watched on anxiously, as she always does where Chris in concerned, for the swimming leg to be complete and eager to cheer him on and wish him luck on the grueling 5 mile run that laid ahead of him.
After approximately 30 minutes the first of the swimmers came out of the water, and Chris was the leader of the pack. Quickly changing his shoes and rehydrating, he set out with a smooth even pace to conquer the 5 miles that awaited.
Chris is a true athlete and takes every race seriously. He trains hard daily to maintain his health and physical fitness. To be a true champion on and off the course, he sticks to his routine and rarely lets a day go by without some sort of exercise.
Chris used this daily regime to his advantage the day of the Plunge-n-Run and achieved an impressive third place finish in just 1 hour and 38 seconds.
The most impressive leg of the race was when he finished, he once again hydrated his body and he turned to run the course backwards to catch up with Rachel, who was also participating and run with her to the finish line. He supported her efforts and cheered her on the same way she would for him.
