Martinique – May 19, 2010

Invited to race a Yamaha SHO by Continental Yamaha Marine in the warm waters of a small French Island in the north Atlantic Ocean, Martinique, on May 19th, 2010 proved to be challenging but once again Chris MacClugage of Macc Racing was victorious.

Chris said “it took 3 plane flights to get there but it was well worth it! We brought two large boxes of parts including our MoTeC Ignition with us. My brother Ricky and I went to work and with the help of Continental Yamaha Marine Mechanic Olivier, in less than 5 hours, produced a great race boat that went the distance and produced some great results proving that with the right parts and boat, it does not take days or weeks to produce an excellent race craft.” Developing faster than factory, reliable race setups with minimal effort that provide the racer with a great race boat is the goal of the crew at Macc Racing. “Countless hours dedicated to development and testing takes patience but we love our jobs” said Chris.

The conditions on Saturday were very hot and humid with 3-4 foot chop and the race was 1 hour long. The course was so spread out that you could not see the buoys from the beach. Chris started the race well, taking an early lead but unfortunately getting slightly lost on the track took him back to 7th place after the first lap. On the 2nd lap, Chris was catching up and working his way through the field "as Chris does best.” Chris won the race on Saturday after a long grueling ride in the tough ocean waves.

On Sunday, the course was slightly smaller, the chop slightly larger, the buoys were visible from the beach and spectators could view the riders at all times. Each race was 30-40 minutes. Chris won the first two races, only needed to finish the last race and finished in an exhausted 3rd place winning the over all!

“Great racing , great weekend and great people. Rachel and I had a really good time and hope to be back next year. A big thank you to Continental Yamaha Marine and Monster Energy for their hospitality,” Chris exclaimed.
